As the Archbishop of the Mother City of South Africa, of
the first ecclesiastical territory to be established in
Southern Africa (1818), I welcome you to this website.
It is my hope that it will inform you and
provide you with any information you may require
regarding this segment of the Catholic Church.

 | On Friday 18 December 2009, Pope
Benedict XVI announced the
appointment of Stephen Brislin (former
bishop of Kroonstad Diocese)
as Archbishop-elect of Cape Town.
Archbishop-elect Brislin will be
installed as Archbishop of Cape Town
on Sunday 7 February
(Solemnity of St Mary of the Flight into Egypt -
Patronal Feast of
the Archdiocese of Cape Town) at the Bellville
Velodrome, beginning
at 16.00. Details to follow from the Archdiocesan Chancery.
